A big THANK YOU goes out to our friends at the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo de Tolosa!

On December 7 the Rotary Club held a silent auction to raise funds for I Care International. It was the first time they have held a fundraiser of this type and were not sure what to expect and it was a huge success. Their members really stepped up and raised a substantial amount of money for our cause!

They had some incredible items to auction off that were donated and bought by many generous and wonderful San Luis Obispo County people.

During the event they also collected glasses and sunglasses in the neighborhood of 1400 pairs. Part of that count was a donation from a local sunglass manufacturer who donated about 900 pairs of sunglasses!

We received the exciting news of the results of the auction from Brian Metcalf, International Services Chair of the Rotary, who said their club is extremely grateful for all the good work that I Care International does and they are proud to be able to work side-by-side with us. He said he thinks it’s a real positive testament that our two groups with a little bit of personal contact, but giant interest in serving others, are able to work closely together to help folks in need.

Brian said that many of the prizes created opportunities for membership fellowship. They have around 90 members and he said their club feels like a giant extended family that loves to socialize. To learn more about their organization go to slorotary.org

As we continue to prepare for the upcoming clinic to Guatemala, we thank you Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo de Tolosa for an incredible donation helping us in more ways than one.
