Today I would like to recognize Dr. Jeffrey Yocum for his many years of support for I Care International.
We consistently receive boxes of donated glasses from Dr. Yocum. I reached out to thank him and I learned that he has been involved with this organization for quite some time.
Dr. Yocum began his connection with the organization when he worked for Dr. Phil Ortiz and Associates in the 90’s. He was also around during the Dr. Charles Cools era. He left to start his own practice in Lafayette, Indiana, but Dr. Yocum stayed connected. He co-led the clinic to Belize with Jessie Gutierrez in January of 2007 along with two of his staff and helped ~1400 people in the inland towns of San Ignacio/Santa Elena. In 2020, he had planned to go on the trip to Guanajuato, Mexico, and bring his daughters to help, but it was cancelled due to Covid. He continues to help out where he can after all these years.
When I first started this job I asked the question of what do you get when you are a member or friend of I Care. I think I’m beginning to understand.
